No eye contact

2019,100×140cm,oil on canvas

I have always been fond of painting characters, and the interaction between people makes me feel interesting and diverse. The scene of this painting is in a subway because I am not willing to make eye contact with strangers to avoid embarrassment in the subway, I just want to keep this kind of feeling in my painting. I thought and many people may have a similar experience.

As a practice, I don't mind the painting was incomplete, but I feel that the left and right sides of the painting are not balanced, and the three characters on the right become the visual center. So I added a poster on the upper left corner, which is the image from the movie La Strada because clowns are generally the objects who being laughed at,In this painting, the clown seems to laugh at those people who cannot escape the embarrassment of reality.
